The brisket is delicious!
Authentic old school BBQ.
The ribs where dry and had much to desire... -

Stopped by the other day craving some BBQ and decided to give smokehouse a try after not having been for years. Unfortunately the meal seemed subpar from what I've had in the past. Pork riblets were on special and upon trying them out it seemed to just be drowned in BBQ sauce in order to mask how dry some it was. In addition, the pineapple slaw I requested as a side was perhaps the most boring slaw I've ever had in my life. Absolutely no flavor... nothing. It was as if someone had forgotten to add any seasoning, vinegar, something and had only added mayo to the mix. Really a disappointing visit... hopefully it was just a bad day but I don't see myself stopping by again anytime soon.

I moved back to anchorage in May. Kept thinking I would get around to trying this place. It's amazing!! I had a pulled bbq sandwich with original sauce. It was truly delicious, but next time I will try brisket just to start working my way through the menu.
I will definitely go back. Nice man working in there, excellent food. Looks clean. Prices are fair because the portions are good and the quality is there. 5 well deserved stars!!! See y'all soon. -

I had the brisket sandwich which wasn't terrible, very smoky and quite sweet. My husband had the breakfast burrito with brisket and he had no complaints. In all the food was just fine but the service left something to be expected. The folks in front of us didn't understand what a brisket sandwich entailed, and she was quite rude to the poor kid. Folks here don't eat much brisket so it wasn't an out of place question. Anyways, I don't see myself returning for any more barbecue here.

I've had BBQ from Austin and San Antonio to Memphis and Kansas City. But this was a huge disappointment. The pulled pork sandwich was served with pork spooned from a pot that left the bun sopping wet and falling apart in big clumps before I could even eat it. It was not only tasteless, it was a mess. I'll give them one more try just in case that was an unfortunate exception. But at least I can now say I've had pulled pork dry (Memphis style), wet (Kansas City style), and a gooping mess (Anchorage style).
